Jade Lee Marasigan
A 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization Created to Host Fundraiser Events to Support Adolescent Mental Health and Suicide Awareness
Our Mission
Play For Jade Events Inc. is an endeavor created by the parents of Jade Lee Marasigan who tragically lost her battle with Major Depressive Disorder and Social Anxiety. As a registered California non-profit, we are hosting fundraiser events as a tribute to Jade and to help raise awareness of the importance of teen mental health and suicide prevention. Net profits will go directly to the Jade Lee Marasigan Charitable Fund at the Northridge Hospital Foundation. The Charity provides individual guidance for families, accessibility to treatment, and financial assistance for those at-risk patients who are in need of continuation of care for their mental health.

2024 AFSP Pasadena Out of the Darkness Walk Speech
On Saturday November 2, 2024, John Marasigan was invited by friends at AFSP to speak at the Pasadena Out of the Darkness Walk to share his lived experience of how suicide has affected him. As a multiple suicide loss survivor — sister-in-law, Eliza (2011); daughter, Jade (2020); and high school buddy, Chad (2022) — and someone who has struggled with depression and anxiety throughout his life, John wants to inspire hope and encourage others to tell their stories, as well as those of their loved ones.
We Danced For Jade with the Granada Hills Women's Club!
Our lovely friends at the Granada Hills Women's Club graciously volunteered to host a fundraiser in Jade's name. John shared Jade's story and our mission, then the Keyboard Kowboy jammed the country music for us all to line dance to. We were presented with their donation check of $1800 at their board meeting on November 7, 2024 that went directly to Jade's Charity!
On Saturday June 22, 2024 we hosted the first ever Play For Jade Volleyball Fundraiser at Cal State University - Northridge. A whole new set of mental health advocates within the volleyball community in Los Angeles came out to support. We had a lot of fun competing in 3 Pools. At the end of the day LaLaLand came in 3rd Place, Big Digs won 2nd Place, and EZ-Pass rose to the top to take home the Gold!
Special thanks to Alan, Sylvia, and Sarah Hagge for not only reffing the Pools, but donating the prize money for the winners of event! Their love for Jade is an incredible testament to the impact that Jade made in this world.
Big shout out to our Board Members: Soo, Despi, Jung, Rick, Andrea, and John, for providing the support, collection of donations, and volunteer duties to make such an endeavor possible! Special mentions to Steven and Tim at CSUN for taking care of us the whole day.
We hosted the 2nd Annual Play For Jade Golf Fundraiser on April 22, 2024 at the DeBell Golf Club in Burbank CA.
The weather was perfect for golf — cool and overcast in the morning, warming up with sunshine by noon. It was a smaller group this year compared to last, but it didn't stop us from having fun day out on the course with some amazingly supportive people! Thank you to all who participated and to all the corporaste sponsors who contributed raffle and auction items! We raised over $17,000 and will be donating the net proceeds to Jade's Charity!

Jade's Uncle Crossed the Ironman 70.3 Finish Line in the Philippines!
On June 11, 2023, Don Raphael Parcon Marasigan competed in the Ironman 70.3 Race in Subic Bay, Philippines. As a tribute to his beloved niece, members of the extended Marasigan Family to pledge their support for Don through Play For Jade Events Inc. $703 will be donated to the Jade Lee Marasigan Charitable Fund.
An Ironman 70.3, also known as a "Half Ironman," is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run. It was a physical and mental challenge through rough waters, rain, and road puddles that Don faced with Jade as his inspiration and motivation to finish strong. He finished in the Top 10 of the Men's 50-54 year old group!
CPK-Northridge Hosted a Successful Restaurant Fundraiser!
With the help of GroupRaise, we invited our incredible supporters to dine at California Pizza Kitchen to raise money for Jade's Charity on Monday July 3rd. The staff there was phenomenal and we tallied a total of almost $4000 in meals of which 20% was donated to the Jade Lee Marasigan Charitable Fund! Jade's Uncle Rudy, who works at Costco in Florida, even ordered a couple of pizza's for colleagues at the warehouse in Northridge, CA! Amazing!
